Last post for EIR

This will be my last post for this blog. Throughout the course, I have learnt many important things which i can use to reasearch my material more effectively. The most important lesson that I was taught is actually the lesson which teach me how to evaluate a website. Usually I would not care about athority of the website or coverage etc. However now I'm taking note of these points to help me evaluate any website I have been to. Overall EIR is an interesting and fun course. Goodbye EIR!

Working as a group, makes the work done faster and more efficiently and the content of the can be discussed as a group. As a individual, I learnt what is cyber ethics by searching on Google. The most challenging problem we had is filling up the content with lots of words. This is so because defining cyber ethics can just be done in a few sentences whereas we got to increase the content for at least 2 paragraphs. I do not think i will use the wiki to research on my materials because im more comfortable with using google instead and wiki reliability may varies. However in times when i have not search enough research i will definitely give wiki a go.

The dream place i want to go is egypt. From the net i have found one interesting website which have much info for me if i were to go egypt - http://www.ask-aladdin.com./ The main reason i choose this web is because of its presentation and arrangement. It is neat and the layout used matches the dersert theme there are plenty of pictures in it too which makes it more interesting. Upon usability, the navigations buttons will placed neatly at the side and well sorted into categories. and the layout are simple as it stays through the same upon each click. Hence all this makes the website looks professional and people will be more confident in the materials provided in there.

Today is the deadline for my EIR portfolio and I regreted not binding up my work. Then the class proceed to evaluating Stomp. Through this lesson I then understand a new term - citizen journalization which is like Stomp where people are free to post their comments and pictures of their encounters in their life. The activity we were given is to rate and explain on the purpose, authority accuracy etc on Stomp. Previously i didnt know how interesting is Stomp until today.
In conclusion today lesson is quite a fruitful one.

This time, there will be a test coming up. Though is only 20 mcq and seems easy, but the lect notes are really alot and i have not really read up on it. This is a good chance that will force the lazy me to really read up on it. Furthermore, my portfolio i have barely started, i guess its time to buck up and do my work. Till now i seriously think EIR is a fun cds to take up, as i know clearly what i need to do unlike some IT course when i miss out a lesson i could not catch up already.

29 nov. This time we got the chance to explore the diff search engine. The one i used is metacrawler. I guess because i used google much more often, i think google is more simplier and more efficient in searching for the info i needed. However the other search engines also bring me new results different from those from google. So i think i will just use google as the primary search engine and the others being the secondary ones.

Finish exploring secondlife i got to say is quite a bad experience. Firstly the lag is unbearable and I find it difficult to explore around. The place is also quite empty too. Even the search function also respond slowly and took me a while to able to enter the shopping place which was instructed in the doc. I explored Avatar Island and its a place where you can purchase your avatar items from there. However I do not have any money to purchase any of the item and I also wonder how can I earn it. If the gameplay is smoother i think it will be more interesting and i definitely spend my time to explore .
